Patients with severe, symptomatic aortic stenosis should first be characterized based on surgical risk. The evaluation of surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) or transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is then guided by assessing a number of clinical and anatomical factors as outlined in the flowchart.
