Caul – covering head of child at birth Careen – lean , sway Invalid-an infirm or sickly person Idle- not working ; still Piazza –an open square or public place in a city or town Burden-that which is carried; load Sullenly –showing irritation or ill humor by gloomy appearance

Imminent –likely to occur at any moment; near Barring – except for Enfolding – to wrap or envelope Iridescent – lustrous colors like those of rainbow Vortex –something regarded as drawing into its powerful current everything that surrounds it: Serene - peaceful Infallible- trustworthy; free from error Blighted- any cause of impairment, destruction, ruin Withered-to shrivel; fade; decay
