2. Summary
The New Mexico Department of Transportation TraCS project has been a multi-phase, multi-year program designed to install, configure, and deploy Traffic and Criminal Software (TraCS) to Law Enforcement agencies throughout the State of New Mexico.
TraCS has allowed officers to electronically create and print crash reports, traffic citations and other traffic related forms from their patrol cars to their local agency and a newly developed crash report repository.
This project has provided electronic collection and management of traffic data for NMDOT and its partnering stakeholders.
We request Close Out certification approval for this successful project.

3. Project Purpose
Improve the timeliness of driver and vehicle information needed by NMDOT, the courts and the Motor Vehicle Division.
Improve data sharing of New Mexico Traffic Safety crash report information with internal and external stakeholders.
Help identify priorities for National, State, Local, and Tribal highway safety programs.

4. Business Objectives The following Business Objectives have been met:
Increase efficiency and productivity by reducing and eliminating manual, paper-based processes, which contribute to high costs and overhead expenses.
Optimize business processes by decreasing the time for the creation of crash reports, citations and reporting to the courts and stakeholders.
Develop processes for electronic submission of crash report information with the assistance of the University of New Mexico.

5. Technical Objectives The following Technical Objectives have been met:
Install required TraCS hardware and software in law enforcement agencies throughout the State of New Mexico.
Provide assistance to develop client/server architecture for TraCS clients and TraCS database.
Provide assistance to help develop helpdesk support and train the trainer.
The following interface is continued to be delivered by DPS for TraCS to AOC
Develop interfaces between DPS and Magistrate Courts for exporting electronic citation information from TraCS database to Magistrate Court Odyssey Case Management System
Instead of interfacing to individual courts it will be one interface, TraCS to AOC

7. Successes
Installation and training for all Law Enforcement agencies utilizing TraCS, as of present date, has been completed.
Capturing of traffic record data to improve the quality, accuracy, integrity and timeliness of information has been completed (continuous updates to software will always be integrated as needed).
Enable electronic transfer of traffic records data from TraCS to a repository, with the assistance of the University of New Mexico, has been completed and will continue to add additional agencies that use TraCS.
Agencies utilizing TraCS include: DPS, the Albuquerque Police Department, Santa Fe Police, Rio Rancho Police, Dona Ana County Sheriff’s, Bernalillo County, Farmington Police Department (in process of a total roll-out along with the four corners region).
