Welcome to the Riverside Key Club Fifth 2017-2018 Meeting 1/30/2018

“I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and God; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions”

Expectations You are NOT in Key Club “just for hours” or “just to put it on your application” We need members who are going to invite others to serve with them at community events. We give back to our school and community, and we don’t “stop” at 40 hours – if this is your plan then please reconsider We need members who are going to team together to represent Riverside and Key Club by stepping up with one another to support activities of every kind Speak up, and follow through. Take initiative and be responsible for keeping up with communications. Most importantly HAVE FUN!

Some upcoming activities

2018 National Pancake Day – The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)
Julie needs Volunteers for our 2018 National Pancake Day on Tuesday February 27, They are also in search of volunteers for 2 Saturdays leading up to the National Pancake Day. This is a great opportunity for students to gain volunteer hours and help with a lifesaving cause! Forty-one local IHOPs are hosting the event, and on February 27th patrons can receive free pancakes and in lieu of payment they are asked if they would consider donating to the LLS. The lead-up dates are 2/3 and 2/17. The shift on each of these dates would be 10am-2pm. The 3-4 hour shifts on 2/27 (Pancake day) run from 7am to 10pm. (Students under 15 will need an adult to accompany them) During their shift we ask that our volunteers talk with customers about the LLS mission and share any blood cancer stories they might have and how it has impacted them personally. Training will be provided with a quick webinar (< 1 hour). We really need volunteers in Leesburg, Sterling and Ashburn. Could you please disseminate this to your Key Club students and anyone else who might be interested? Some shifts begin at 3:00pm but students can arrive at 3:30 or 4:00 (after school). If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
