5 Manageability with PowerShell
Demo MMC snap-in: configuration settings and some actions PowerShell cmdlets: full administrative control Remoting: managing NAV in the data center Using domain names for tenants

6 Domain Name → Tenant http://customer.com
1) DNS 2) IIS – URL Rewrite 3) NAV - AlternateId customer.com?tenant=customer.com tenant t1 hoster.com (IP)

7 Scheduled monitoring Currently we uses passive monitoring, that gathers system diagnostics data without making any changes to the system. However, the goal would be to have a more proactive monitoring, that uses synthetic transactions to test an observed outcome against an expected outcome. The monitoring system needs to be customizable and intelligent enough to take action when problems has been identified, and detect failures before they gets critical, and provide a solution for automatic recovery. SCOM will monitor all escalated events and present health state and solutions to the administrator.

8 Scheduled monitoring SCOM is used only to raise human awareness of issues identified with problem-events. The current implementation of the SCOM pack is monitoring all error events created by web client, server instances or tenants, and is changing the health state of the individual objects, based on frequency, severity and event source of the created event log entries. That makes monitoring very flexible, and it is possible to create and schedule some simple PowerShell scripts, to customize and extend the monitoring experience dramatically.

9 Demo Scheduled monitoring Test-TenantDB Test-TcpPortState
Automatic recovery, replacing a certificate that is about to expire.
