3 El desayuno (breakfast)- Mexico
Happens around 7-10 am Drink coffee Eat huevos rancheros (eggs, chili sauce, corn tortillas)

5 La comida (lunch) Mexico
1:30-4:00pm main meal of the day, has several courses soup a main course=meat or poultry Sides=rice, beans and tortillas.

8:00-9:00 pm lightest meal of the day Eat soup or tacos

9 In Spain Meal times structure the day, with stores and businesses closing at lunch for people to take a break to be with family, and bar culture influences night life. Many people in Spain stay out later and longer than we typically do for dinner time in the US

10 El desayuno-Spain 7-10 am Drink coffee
Eat toast/pastry with Nutella or jam or churros with chocolate sauce

12 El almuerzo-Spain 2-4pm main meal of the day
many courses of soup, fish or meat dessert is fruit or pastry

sandwich, salad or selection of tapas (little dishes shared with a group)

Sobremesa- a term that literally means “over the table”. This phrase describes the custom of staying and talking long after the meal is over Siesta-The daily break around lunch time (2-4) where stores and businesses close and all people return home to eat with their families (and might even nap!) Coffee-is drunk with every meal, espresso is very popular
