Team Project Unit Assignment of type of bowling alley Contents
Research – Industry, Target Market, Competition Finance – Start-up costs, Prices for services and food Three parts of the project Formative Projects due throughout the unit. Projects 1-3 are due by January 30th. Projects 4-6 are due by February 6th. The last day to submit ANY of the projects will be February 6th – these are considered “rough drafts” so can’t be turned in at the same time as the final written report. Final Written Report – Due February 8th & 9th (Your Block Period) (summative) Presentation to the Class– February 7th(summative)

WHAT: Gain experience conducting Industry Research HOW: Conduct Industry Research Write up a minimum of two paragraphs about the bowling center industry. Consider trends, current companies in the industry, industry annual sales, barriers to entry, etc. Make sure to cite your sources!!!

WHAT: Gain experience conducting Industry Market Research HOW: Create a Customer Profile for your business (industry level) Based on the Industry Research --- Who are Bowlers for your specific type of bowling alley? How do they hear about bowling alleys and specifically bowling alley promotions? How often do they visit a bowling alley? How can my products or services meet their needs, or what value can I provide?

WHAT: Gain experience conducting Target Market Research HOW: Utilize the library resources to identify target market Based on the business zip code, identify the target market based on: Size of market Demographics Psychographics How can you reach your market

WHAT: Gain experience creating a competitive matrix HOW: Create a competitive matrix based on your bowling center. (see page 110) Gather information about 3 to 4 direct and indirect competitors Identify the primary target customer for each of your competitors List the benefits the customers receive from each of the competitors List the locations of the competitors (distribution) List your opinion of their strengths and weaknesses Remember this is all about your competition --- not you!!!!

WHAT: Gain experience creating a Price Sheets HOW: Create a Price Sheet for food & bowling Research two to three competitors to find their prices Using Competition-Oriented pricing to create A price sheet for bowling A menu with prices for any food items A price sheet for any additional features, i.e. laser tag, birthday party packages, happy hour specials Remember this is all about your competition --- not you!!!!
