Success Criteria Pupils should be able to use evidence to organize familiar objects into a logical order. Pupils should record the stages in their thinking, and how their ideas change. Pupils should relate their work to how Mendeleev organized the Periodic Table.

Sorting Allsorts Imagine that you are Dmitri Mendeleev, and that licorice allsorts are the chemicals in the periodic table. How could you organize the sweets into a logical order?

Activity T= Task T+ Challenge
Think about how you could organize the sweets into a order. Record your ideas on the sheet. Now share your ideas and arrange the sweets. Record how your ideas change. Record how your thoughts change as you arrange the sweets. Explain how this activity is similar to the work of Dmitri Mendeleev and his work on the periodic table.
