What is anesthesiology?
Anesthesiology is the practice of medicine dedicated to the relief of pain and total care of the surgical patient before, during and after surgery.

Anesthesiologist: doctor/physician in the field of anesthesia Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA): highly skilled health professional who works under the direction of a licensed anesthesiologist to implement anesthesia care plans Anesthesia technician (AT): is not a doctor or a nurse, but their role is to manage the anesthesia equipment and for its proper maintenance (1)

Education Anesthesiologist: four year undergraduate college degree, including pre-med requirements, four years of medical school. Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA): a bachelor's degree and have completed premedical courses Anesthesia Technician (AT): have a high school diploma or GED, have basic computer skills (2) Anesthesiologists require to have pre-med before going to medical school. AA require having completed pre-med courses such as: math, physics, chemistry, and biology. Typical undergraduate majors include: nursing, medical technology, repritory therapy, physics, chemistry and biology. AT at least two years of employment as an anesthesia technician or to be a graduate of a two – year program approved by the American Society of Anesthesiology Technologists and Technicians (ASATT),
