History of rock Rock music is a broad genre of popular music that originated as in the United States in the early 1950s as rock and roll, later appeared in the United Kingdom in the 1900s. Rock music also drew strongly influence on a number of other genres such as electric blues and folk, jazz, classical and other musical styles. The rock is diverse and it has centered on the electric guitar, electric bass, drums, and one or more singers.

Influence in society and music
Rock 'n' roll has even influenced cultures in different parts of the world, especially Europe. Rock 'n' roll has many different forms from heavy metal to classic rock, punk, alternative, and grunge. The genre has allowed different music producing companies to emerge and promote artists who are still repsected and appreciated among different audiences today. Some people believe that Elvis never died and others believe that if it weren't for artist like Little Richard that the social scene between blacks and whites would never have merged. Rock 'n' roll is a trendsetter in American society.

Influence in music If other kinds of music—classical, jazz, easy listening, country, folk, etc.—are marketed as minority interests, rock defines the musical mainstream. And so over the last half of the 20th century it became the most inclusive of musical labels— everything can be “rocked”—and in consequence the hardest to define.

The rock plays with some intruments like the electric guitar, guitar bass, drums, vocals, piano, etc. The basic rock instrumentation was derived from the basic blues band instrumentation(prominent lead guitar, second chordal instrument, bass, and drums). Rock music is traditionally built on a foundation of simple unsyncopated rhythms in a 4/4 meter, with a repetitive snare drum back beat on beats two and four. rock music often used the verse-chorus structure derived from blues and folk music, but there has been considerable variation from this model. Classically, a rock band takes the form of a quartet whose members cover one or more roles, including vocalist, lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist, bass guitarist, drummer, and often keyboard player or other instrumentalist. From this genre are derived others such as hard rock, alternative rock, garage rock, heavy metal, psychedelic rock, rock art, etc. Rock characteristics.
