Quicksand As the round object rolls down the ramp it triggers the car.
As the car rolls down the ramp, the metal plate attached to the car will move aside. Therefore allowing the sand to drop into the plastic bottle to lift the 1kg block.

Stored Energy Round object (trigger object) - PEg1 = KE+PEg2+Eloss
Seesaw - KE1=KE2+Eloss Car - KE1+Peg=KE2+Eloss Plastic bottle - PEg =KE+Eloss

Design and Construction Issues
We added side bumpers to our inclined ramps to prevent the objects from falling off the ramps. The position of the seesaw was adjusted to effectively start the car. We had to add initial mass to the plastic bottle to lift the 1kg block because the mass of the sand wasn’t enough. We repositioned the pulley to reduce friction.

Conclusion Our team started the design process 2 weeks prior to the due date. Several team meetings were held for the designing and planning of our project. The construction of the our device took about 6 hours. The materials used were either from team members or purchased from stores, and we stayed within the $20 budget in constructing our device. Overall, all team members worked hard for this project and are glad that it’s finally over.
