Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
Federal Legislation passed by Congress in 2016 Intended to support schools, parents and students To provide increased flexibility and local control Provides greater accountability for results Provides additional options for parents (choices, notification and involvement) Emphasis on effective teaching methods based on scientifically based strategies proven to increase student achievement . Rigor, Relevance, Relationships....every student, every teacher, every day

System Improvement Plan Consolidated Local Improvement Plan (C.L.I.P.)
System-level, school improvement teams and district stakeholders analyze the testing results and performance on system and school level goals and objectives to identify areas of strengths, improvements and weaknesses. Using data from a variety of comprehensive needs assessment, completed during the spring and summer by the system-level, school teams and stakeholders to reflect the needs of the system. The District Improvement plan is developed using the comprehensive needs assessment as a guide for FY19 Copies of the District Improvement Plan are available at this meeting and posted on the district website LCBOE uses the Federal Funds to provide additional support toward meeting local needs identified in the planning process and are not funded by state and local dollars. LCSS FY19 Goals 1. Increase number of students reading on grade level based on Lexiles. 2. Increase percentage of students scoring at proficient and distinguished levels on the GMAS. 3. Title I, Part A – $1,814,977.00 Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015
This federal program provides financial assistance through the state to local systems and schools that have high numbers or percentages of children, from lower incomes, to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic content and student academic achievement standards. Title I, Part A Funds focused at the Elementary and middle school level (ELP, ELE, NWL, SWL, ELM, ELHS) LCBOE utilizes School-wide programs Reduces Teacher-Student Ratio during reading and/math for students needing extra assistance or reduces class size Approximately 98% of funds used to pay teacher salaries Professional training for staff Promotes parental involvement in the schools and utilizes parental input to make system and school improvements Promotes increased parents/legal guardians’ knowledge of academic information and resources Parental Involvement Plans and System & School-wide Plans Rigor, Relevance, Relationships....every student, every teacher, every day

Parent and Family Engagement Plan

Title I, Part C - $36,135.00 Migrant Education Program
The Migrant Education Program (M.E.P.) is a federal program that provides supplemental education and support services to migrant children in order to help them overcome the educational disruptions and disadvantages migrant children face. The MEP provides migrant students with the best possible education to enable them to meet the same high standards that all children are expected to meet and increase the number of migrant students graduating from high school. Title V-B $120,119.00 Rural and Low Income Schools
Title VI-B (RLIS) is a federal program that provides grant funds to rural local educational agencies that serve concentrations of children from low-income families. Purpose: To provide financial support to systems to support student achievement in order to meet state accountability requirements. Title V-B System eligible to receive RLIS funds
1. All of the system’s schools have a school local code of 6, 7, or 8 (Assigned by the U.S.D.O.E.’s National Center for Education Statistics) % or more of the children age 5-17 are from families with incomes below the poverty line (as determined by the Census) Rigor, Relevance, Relationships....every student, every teacher, every day

Proportionate Share Process
Since the passage of IDEA 1997, school districts have been required to allocate a “proportionate share” of their Federal IDEA funds to provide private school students with disabilities (SWD) with “services” in special education offered by the district. All eligible students with disabilities (preschool - 12th grade) who are parentally placed in a private elementary or secondary school Home-schooled eligible students with disabilities Timely & Meaningful Consultation in July Rigor, Relevance, Relationships....every student, every teacher, every day

Child Find Child Find is the school system’s attempt to locate any children who are suspected of having a disability. Special education and/or related services may be recommended if a disability interferes with a child’s learning.
