2 FORMAL LETTERS AND EMAILS
Always include the name of the person you are writing to. Use appropriate greetings and clossing expressions. Use full forms no contractions. Use formal words and expressions. Use a range of tenses and structures.

3 greeting If you know the name of the person you’re writing to, use “Mr” for a man and “Ms” for a woman. If you don’t know the name of the person you’re writing to,

would you like to happen, your availability for an interview). Furthermore ,… Moreover,… Nevertheless,…

8 ending Use this standard phrase to finish a formal letter or .

9 farewell If you’ve begun the with Dear and the name of the person (Dear Ms Black,), finish with “Yours sincerely” If you have used Dear Sir or Madam, finish wirh “yours faith fully”.
