Complete scholarship applications and submit any required essays.
Have a parent, teacher, or counselor proofread your application, including essays. It’s important to watch your spelling and grammar... errors really count against you.
Due date for most major local scholarships is January 15, Plan on having process complete by Jan. 6, PLEASE DON’T LEAVE IT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!!
Some of the DSACF Scholarships require a copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA – which you’ll need to send by Jan. 15, The FAFSA can be completed using Tax Forms from Go to to complete the FAFSA.

6. Types of Financial Aid Federal Aid (based on financial need)
State Aid – eligibility typically follows federal guidelines
Grants and Scholarships – Awards based on merit plus need
Loans – through lending institution or college; interest rates vary
Military Programs – i.e. ROTC programs, National Guard
Work Study – jobs at college that allow students to earn money
To apply for federal and state aid, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application at Application was open October 1, 2018 for using 2017 Federal Tax Forms.

What is needed to complete the FAFSA: Social Security Number, Federal Income Tax Returns, Bank Statements/Records of Investments, Records of untaxed income

Communication is important – if you run into problems, let us know
Plan ahead! Deadlines are important
Read scholarship requirements over carefully and make sure that you’re qualified to apply for the scholarship. Include all necessary essays and additional attachments (i.e.tax forms)
Remember the Student Aid Report from FAFSA for any required Scholarships by January 15, 2018.
Have your applications and essays proofread by an adult.
