Severe Extrapulmonary Thoracic Restriction Caused by Morphea, a Form of Localized Scleroderma  Samuel M. Aguayo, M.D., F.C.C.P., Christy L. Richardson, M.D., Jesse. 2 FIGURE 1A (upper). Generalized morphea involving the thoracoabdominal region (anterior view). This wood-like hyperpigmented lesion surrounded the patient's chest and abdomen like a belt. 1B (lower). Thin-section computed tomographic scan of the chest demonstrating pericardial and mediastinal lipomatosis but no significant lung parenchymal disease. The minimal abnormalities in the posterior dependent areas, which could be atelectasis, could not explain the severe restrictive ventilatory defect in this patient.
