2. I mean business... NO cell phones

3. Expectations: At the start
I usually start my lessons with a small but important activity. The purpose of the activity is to:
Help you understand what you will be doing in the rest of the lesson.
Review what you have learned before and that you’ll continue learning.
Get you to understand “Why you are learning what you are learning”

I use a lot of group work to help you understand ideas and what I am trying to teach you.
Challenges and disagreements.
Helps build your skills.

6. Expectations: Participation
If you come to my class, be prepared to work and participate.

You may be asked to leave if you are not fully participating in the lesson or positively contributing to the learning.

7. Expectations: You cannot hand in your work late!
It is expected that you hand in your work on time.
10% per day it is late.

10. Enough of me talking... Group work:
Assign each of you a role: Leader, Manager, Note Maker, Reporter and Supporter.
In your groups, I want you to write three (3) things that you and your group have in common.
You will share it with the class. (10-minutes)

11. You will teach the different types of grammar.
Group work:
Assign each of you a role: Leader, Manager, Note Maker, Reporter and Supporter.
TASK: You will write down all of the different types of grammar you have learned since starting ESL.

Level 1 (50-59%) – You will list the different types of grammar that you know.
Level 2 (60-69%) – You begin to explain how to use the different types of grammar, but not in very much detail and with some gaps in your understanding.
Level 3 (70-79%) – You clearly show you understand a variety of grammatical structures and you can explain exactly how each grammatical structure is done.
Level 4 (80-100%)- Your group has exceeded all expectations and your teacher learns something from you.
