Providing Silicon Valley safe, clean water for a healthy life, environment and economy Mission: CLEAN, RELIABLE WATER FLOOD PROTECTION HEALTHY CREEKS & ECOSYSTEMS We are special District established by legislature. Our origin dates back to the early 20th century, when concerns about Our mission is to: Provide Silicon Valley safe, clean water for a healthy life, environment and economy. We serve the entire Santa Clara County – 2 million people; 15 Cities, 13 retailers, 4,700 well owners Three key goals Provide water supply flood protection Serve as stewards of streams for healthy ecosystems Having the responsibility for all three components of water resources provides us the opportunity to develop projects that meet multiple objectives

4 Voter-Approved Measure
A15-year strategy to ensure uninterrupted water resources services Funded through a voter approved ballot measure The grants program addresses key performance indicators associated with program priorities In November 2012, county voters approved Safe, Clean Water ballot measure with an overwhelming majority of nearly 74%. The countywide special parcel tax sunsets on June 30, 2028.

7 Past A2 Water Conservation Grant-Funded Projects
Project Name: WaterGenius Challenge Grantee: BKi District Award: $50,000 Year Awarded: 2015 Project Summary: The WaterGenius Challenge was created as a solution for local governments and water agencies to help their communities to use less water through an employer-based campaign model. BKi proposed a Utility Challenge that would promote water conservation among employees at large employers in Santa Clara Valley Water District’s service territory. The Challenge used BKi’s proprietary WaterGenius platform to provide employees with information, strategies, and incentives to save water. Project Name: Beyond Leak Detection Grantee: San Jose Water Company (SJWC) District Award: $50,000 Year Awarded: 2014 Project Summary: With funding from SCVWD, the San Jose Water Company has been conducting research testing to evaluate savings from the use of an advanced water meter for single family residential (SFR) customers. SJWC has been conducting testing throughout the Willow Glen neighborhood in the City of San Jose. Specifically, the project aims to reduce apparent water loss, allowing the utility to bill for more of the water actually delivered; and detect flow down to 0.05.
