Communication & Language Literacy *Dear Zoo!- Writing to the zoo for a suitable pet. Describing animals. *Writing about our favourite pets. *Asking questions about people’s pets *The Great Pet Sale- retelling the story in order, reading labels and sentences . *Writing a description for a Wanted Poster. *Labeling people who help us. Mathematics *Comparing weight using a balance. *Counting in twos. *Using money- paying for amounts in a pet shop- adding two amounts together. *Adding using a number line. *Describing 2D shapes. *Ordering numbers to 20. *Ten Town- focus on writing teen numbers. Personal, Social, Emotional Development *Talking about likes and dislikes related to animals and pets. *Meeting and talking to a range of people who help us. *Children will talk about keeping safe and healthy. SEAL unit- Going for Goals- the children will be setting achievable goals and targets. People and Pets! Reception Spring Understanding of the World *Making a pictogram on the computer- showing popular pets. *Talk about how we care for different animals. *Learn about a variety of people who help in the community. (Vet, Police, Fire, School Nurse, Vicar, Guide Dogs). Physical Development *Letter formation- cursive writing. *Animal dances- moving in different ways like different animals. *Continue to practice changing for PE, zipping up coats. *Understanding a healthy diet. *Hand washing activity. Expressive Arts and Design *Role play: Pet Shop, Vets, Fire Station, Police Station. *Paintings of pets and people who help- mixing colours. *Making models of pets. *Making healthy eating plates. *Accessing creative provision to create pet pictures/models. *Animal dances- moving in different ways like different animals.
