Known for having great horsemanship, especially using lances and bows and arrows Used maneuvers such “fake retreat”, and trebuchets for siege warfare

Bubonic Plague Yersinia Pestis- origin unknown but carried by rats (fleas). Mongol armies and traders brought disease into Europe where it spread often via merchant ships Responsible for death of perhaps 33% of the population in China, and up to 60% of the population in Europe. Devastating impact on society- physicians treated with bloodletting, Jewish populations were blamed for poisoning wells, preoccupation with death “Danse Macabre” (Dance of Death)

Impact- decline of trade, high death rate leads to increase in wages Less population caused the decline of serfdom ( where peasants work a Lord’s land and the Lord keeps the profit)
