Customize the start menu…
Demonstrate Right click on any tile and you can resize the tile Move tiles around in order that makes sense Unpin a tile from Start Pin a tile to taskbar, right click on tile – choose more – pin to taskbar Add a program to Start Menu

Add your favorite “other” program Pin your documents folder to start Make your weather tile larger Pin your school’s homepage to your start menu You will need to do this on each machine you use

Add your favorite programs Pin your school’s homepage to your task bar … With a few things open – try TASK VIEW Locate a file using Search and then File Explorer

Image: pcmag.com Image: iconswebtool.com Image: Wikimedia.commons One Drive Sync Center Wireless You can click this icon to login to One Drive for easy access to all your files stored in the “cloud” Gray – not logged in, blue you are logged on Do on your laptop – not on desktops Click here to manually sync your files to make sure you have all your files on your H drive available for you if you leave the network *Don’t share your “synced” laptop Can’t see your files – check here to make sure you are on PCSD Secure, not PCSD Guest. You also can not print if on Guest.

Windows mobility icon Click on this icon and you have access to all the items on the right.

Presentation mode When the Windows Presentation mode is turned on the laptop doesn’t go to sleep and all the system notifications are turned off temporarily. Users can also set a particular background and adjust the speaker volume for the Presentation mode. These settings will be applied whenever the Presentation Mode is activated. Don’t leave in presentation mode when not presenting

CLICK in task bar Type default printer CLICK on Change Default Printer Lots of choices – CLICK on one you want CLICK Manage button CLICK Set as default button

Displaying your screen
Choices: PC Screen only Duplicate – you want same image on your computer as on the screen Extend – use to separate different windows open onto different screens Second screen only Remember presentation mode if displaying!

Go to the settings bar and take a look at favorites, what carried over, what is your default page, change or add default pages – don’t forget to hit Save disk Change any settings that you would like (ex. Light/Dark) Now go to Firefox Click the Menu button and then Customize Add bookmarks in Firefox

Click on share in upper right corner This will appear and you can invite others to share your file and assign rights for them. If you are signed in already when you go to save you will have options: You may save into your OneDrive account for access anywhere or you may BROWSE and save into your H drive. Click on Sign In at the top right hand of your screen. Once you enter your school address you will be prompted for password. Then your name will appear where “sign in” was.

Speech Recognition Voice Recorder Faststone Capture Windows Speech Recognition lets you control your PC with your voice alone, without needing a keyboard or mouse. There's a wizard to help you get started. Just plug in your microphone, and then, in the search box on the taskbar, type Speech Recognition, and select Windows Speech Recognition. Easily capture and annotate anything on the screen including windows, objects, menus, full screen, rectangular / freehand / fixed regions as well as scrolling windows / web pages. It also allows you to record all screen activities. How to use Faststone Capture Voice Recorder is an app for recording lectures, conversations, and other sounds (previously called Sound Recorder). Hit the big Record button, and add markers to identify key moments as you record or play. In the Task Bar at the bottom left side of your screen Click on the search icon Type in so Software center will be a choice for you Double click on any item you need to install
