Undergraduate Students in the College of Arts and Sciences have the opportunity to work one on one with faculty on research projects and develop independent lines of inquiry that prepare them for careers and graduate school.

Students have the opportunity to join various department clubs and organizations to increase their academic engagement, find like-minded peers, and pursue networking opportunities. Criminology and Criminal Justice - Criminal Justice Student Association History - Student History Circle and Honors Society HERC (History Educational Resource Center) provides tutoring, advising, and career counseling with information sessions, movies, major meet and greets, and professor chats (our Caffeine and Cake series)

continued… Philosophy Circle – undergraduates philosophy club, hosts an annual conference Political Science - College Democrats, College Republicans, Pi Sigma Alpha – Political Science Honor Society, Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature, Model United Nations, SGA (Student Government Association) Sociology - Alpha Kappa Delta, the Sociology Honors Society, and Social Pupils World Languages - tables in dining areas, conversation exchanges, film festivals

Service Learning Opportunities
Anthropology – local communities and groups Psychology – learning assistants in classroom, peer advising Sociology – network with community groups and non-profits Social Work – embedded service hours in most upper division courses (agencies/schools)

Internships History – 25% of majors participate in internships at local museums, archives, non-profits Political Science – Tennessee Legislative Internship, Intern for Political Campaigns, Intern for Memphis city government through the Urban Fellows Program Psychology – 80% of psychology interns are hired by their host site, Internship Days each semester Social Work – 460 hours in culminating experiences World Languages - currently interns at Su Casa Ministries, Latino Memphis, The Exchange Club, The Family Safety Center, Shelby County Schools, Church Health Center, and the Wafula Immigration Law firm
