September 3rd-7th, 2018 #ThunderousThird What we are Learning: ELA Ask and Answer Questions to show understanding of a fiction text. Main Idea and Details in Text Explore pre-writing techniques and write freely about things of interest Math Use properties to understand addition Fluently add and subtract within 1,000 Social Studies Types of communities Science Tools Scientists Use Welcome to Third Grade! Please know there is an expectation that all leaders should be reading at least 20 minutes a night. This is the easiest thing you can do to ensure your child’s growth as a reader this year! Transportation Changes must be a written note and the office needs to be contacted about any changes. Leaders will go home the way listed unless there is a written note stating otherwise. Upcoming Events: Monday September 3rd -Labor Day- No School Tuesday September 4th- Friday September 7th Attendance Awareness Week Tuesday- H.E.R.O- Here Every Day and Ready On Time Wear superhero shirts, capes, etc. Wednesday- Crazy Hair? Don’t Care! Come Anyway. Thursday- Cheering for Perfect Attendance Wear your favorite sports team jersey or shirt Friday- Show your class, Stay in school Wear your school colors/ class colors Tuesday September 4th -Title I Annual Parent Meeting Enrichment Team Showcase Night 5:30 pm Art - Media - PE - STEM - Music Saturday September 15th 2nd Annual Absenteeism Awareness Block Party -10:00 am - 2:00 pm Covey Corner: Habit Focus: Habit #3 Put First Things First-"Personal Victory" I do the most important things first (ie. homework before we go outside to play). I plan for my day and for the week ahead. I focus on things that are top priorities and not on things that are unimportant. I have control over what will lead me to my goal.
