What is Athletic Training?

Athletic Training “encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities” (National Athletic Trainers’ Association) Practiced by athletic trainers to optimize activity and participation of individuals

Athletic Trainers Definition: “Unique health care providers who [under the direction of a physician] specialize in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses.” (National Athletic Trainers’ Association) Not the same as personal trainers

NATA consists of over 32,000 members In 1950 had 200 members Profession originated in 1930’s Licensure (39), Certification (4), Registration (4), Exemption (1), No Regulation (2) What does this mean?
