10 The research problems How did patients experience themselves during their perioperative care? What kind of human being is there behind the patient in perioperative care? What does it mean to be a human being as a patient during perioperative care? How can the understanding of the human being be deepened and interpreted through a philosophical perspective? 11 The data collection Interviews of 26 patients, aged years, 13 female and 13 male. The theme areas were derived from the perioperative process. Marjut Nummela
