2 David exalts the LORD Psalm 8:1 - O Lord, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens! Job 9:1-10

3 David exalts the LORD Psalm 8:2 - From the mouth of infants & nursing babes You have established strength because of Your adversaries, to make the enemy & the revengeful cease. 1 Samuel 17:41-49 FULFILLED: Matthew 21:12-17 (cf. 18:1-4)

4 Grandeur of creation Psalms 8: When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon & the stars, which You have ordained; 4 What is man that You take thought of him, & the son of man that You care for him?

5 Glory of man Psalms 8:5-8 - Yet You have made him a little lower than God [elohim, mighty ones], & You crown him with glory & majesty! 6 You make him to rule over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, 7 all sheep & oxen, & also the beasts of the field, 8 the birds of the heavens & the fish of the sea, whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

Why did God give man such an important role in his creation? To test his faithfulness (Gen 2-3) Alone, no power over death (Heb 2:6-9, 14-15) With Jesus, power over death (John 5:25-29)

7 Excellent name of God Psalms 8:9 - O Lord, our Lord, how majestic (excellent) is Your name in all the earth! The covenant name of God (Jehovah, Yahweh) Authority over ALL life: to create, govern, to make covenants & to give laws

8 O Lord, Our Lord The LORD, whose name is Majestic (Excellent),
is the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior
