Dear Friends from Latgale. I would like to wish you all heartly welcome to Trondheim and Sør-Trøndelag. I will in this presentation like to present to you the region of Trøndelag and the City of Trondheim, which is the capital of Trøndelag. I will also like to say some words about the County Authority. I guess you have been presented to some of these matters previously on this visit - so I hope you will forgive me that there might be some repetitions.

4. Our ambition – big hairy goal
To become the most creative region in Europe
Our ambition is to be the Most Creative Region in Europa. I want to show why we think we can make that ambition come through.

5. Trondheim (170.000 inhabitants) The Technology Capital of Norway
We like to call Trondheim the Technology Capital of Norway.

6. The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and R&D institute SINTEF located in Trondheim
SINTEF is the largest Technological R&D institution in Scandinavia.

7. Large oil and gas resources in the Norwegian Sea
Let me also present to you two of the most important natural resources we have in Mid-Norway. First Oil & Gas in the Norwegian sea.

8. Industrialized Salmon farming started in Trøndelag
And secondly – Fish Farming at our coast. Mid-Norway is the largest Salmon Fish Farming region in Norway, and thereby also in the World.

9. HISTORY - Nidarosdomen Cathedral King Olav Haraldsson (St
HISTORY - Nidarosdomen Cathedral King Olav Haraldsson (St. Olav) was killed in 1030 and was buried in Nidaros (Trondheim).
History and Identity is important. The Nidaros Cathedral is the very heart of Norwegian history. You will see the Cathedral at your guided tour this afternoon.

10. Rosenborg is one of the best football teams in Scandinavia – and a veteran in the European Champions League.
I am proud to present Rosenborg as Trondheims famous football team.

11. Trøndelag is known for winter sport
Trøndelag is known for winter sport. - Granåsen offers an all year round jumping hill.

16. Dental care The County Authority offers dental care for youth between 0 – 20 years, Mentally handicapped people, and residents of nursing and retirement homes are also our responsibility.

17. Transport Construction and maintenance of county roads, allocation of resources to local boat and bus routes, permit allocation and licence for taxi as well as transport for the disabled.
