And the winners are….. On May 1, 2018, more than 100 students from Michigan & Ohio presented over 70 research projects at the GLOBE Mission EARTH SATELLITES Student conference at The University of Toledo’s Student Union. This conference, originally named SATELLITES: Students And Teachers Exploring Local Landscapes to Interpret The Earth from Space, has grown over the years. The speaker, John Moore from the Palmyra Cove Nature Center, showed students how their data can be visualized by using the app, HoloGlobe and Merge Data Cube. Participating schools (teachers): Byrnedale Elementary School (Dianne LaPlante); Clay High School (Meredith Wolfe); Crestwood High School (Crestwood High School); Navarre Elementary School (Melody Tsapranis); St. Patrick Elementary School (Maureen Wickenheiser); St. Peter's School (Susan James); The University of Toledo (Dr. Yitong Jiang);Thirkell Elementary Middle School (Connie Atkisson); & Waite High School (Debbie Mille). This is the first year that a teacher entered a research project to the conference. Connie Atkisson from Thirkell Elementary Middle School present her research project entitled Source Water Quality and Effects on Corrosion: Comparing the Detroit River and Detroit Tap?
