No statutory regulations/follow WMO and ICAO Operational Capacity (24/7) Station network: - One main stn(aero/synoptic)– Int’l Airport - One Upper-air stn (00Z,12Z)– Int’l Airport - Doppler Radar (eastern side of island) - Network of eight (8) AWS’s/other manual stns Forecasting Capability: - Global NWP products: Yes GFS,GEM etc…using Smartmet s/ware….(SIDS-Finland) - Local satellite receiving equipment: Yes - Reliable Internet Access: Yes [250Mbps(ꜜ)/50Mbps(ꜛ)……{Back-up ISP 40Mbps(ꜛ/ꜜ)}] - Dedicated forecaster’s work-station/area: Yes - Forecast preparation: Yes … {TBPB,TDPD, TVSA} - Forecast verification…. No…(validation in progress)

2 Major hazards: Heavy rainfall/severe rain events (flooding/mud-slides) -High waves/seas -strong low level winds (aviation); Human resources: Observers, forecasters, NWP experts..!!, IT staff..!! Met assistants (synoptic and upper/air) -3 Senior meteorological assistants -8 Meteorologists (class 1 and 11) -A Senior meteorologist -A Deputy director -A Director BMS Contingency Plan …?

3 Dissemination of forecasts and warnings:
Service Delivery Dissemination of forecasts and warnings: -Fax/Tele, BMS website, s, national(UHF/VHF) radio network. -CAP/EWS to be implemented DEM/BMS/MEDIA (messages via radio-interrupt, cell phone, , sms) Thresholds for warnings: -Heavy rainfall: (2 – 3 inches and above) -High waves/seas: (warning 3.0m and above) (caution/advisory 2.0 – 2.5m) -Strong winds: (25 kts and above) -Dry/wet spells…. ??? Status of coordination and engagement with users: -Disaster Management(DEM) – Main stakeholder (protocol) -First Responders/Civil Protection Agencies (Police, Fire, Defence Force and Coastguard) -Media, general public

4 Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) among BMS

5 Expectations from SWFDP
Additional products from Global/Regional centres Dust/haze to complement CIMH regional product Coastal breaking wave height/energy products Capacity building needs including from RFSF/CIMH Additional training/seminars for new/updated NWP. Common NWP platform w.r.t data/location access e.g. bufr, geotiff data for ingest into national/local NWP applications. Requirement for work stations for forecasters (any assistance would be appreciated) Expectations from RFSF Martinique and RSMC Miami (for hurricanes/TC) in terms of Guidance Any other need
