2. Mr. Hernandez:
Taught at Birney Elementary for 19 years (2nd, 4th, and 5th grades)
Is presently in the third year of teaching at RMS
Trained in College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM) for sixth grade
Utilizes guided instruction (the students work together to solve the problems)

3. Core Connections: Requires students to play roles
Role 1: Facilitator- a leader who coordinates team members in working on problems
Role 2: Task Manager- a leader who makes sure that all parts of a task are completed and everyone is involved
Role 3: Resource Manager- a leader who manages the items used during an assignment (ie. paper, tiles, counters….)
Role 4: Reporter/Recorder: a leader who is responsible for the written and oral responses for the team
