Three sections
Section A: students are given a choice of two questions on An Inspector Calls.
Section B: students are given one compulsory Anthology poem and must compare to an Anthology poem of choice.
Section C: students are given two Unseen poems. They must write an analysis on the first poem, then write a comparison between both.

Two sections
Section A: students are given pair of non-fiction texts and four comprehension questions; two questions will compare the texts
Section B: students are given a choice of writing questions; the purpose is to persuade/argue or explain/inform.

12. Revision strategies for English Language/English Literature:
Know the texts! Learn the texts, not possible answers to questions that might come up.
Know the exam: the time allocated, the types of questions, the assessment objectives.
Gather a bank of model question papers and look at the types of questions asked. Remember: this is a brand new exam format but the English department has a bank of model question papers and is making them available to students. There are more on the AQA website.
Gather the mark schemes and see what they are giving marks for and the skills being assessed (Assessment Objectives); again, available on the AQA website

13. Revision strategies for English Language/English Literature:
Download and read exemplar responses. Again, it’s a new exam and few model answers are available. But, the exam board has published some to benefit students.
Build a revision timetable and get organised. Identify realistic time slots and schedule in actual tasks/activities.
Use the revision checklist to help you know what you need to know. Tick off each task as you go and stick to a clear cut guidelines for yourself, i.e. 3x3x3 rule for the poems.

Use the internet. The web shouldn’t be relied upon as the only source of revision. BUT, there are some gems out there:

easy to find, quick and easily-digestible

You should also:
Re-read their novels, plays and poetry
Learn key English terms
Ensure that their literacy is solid (spelling, grammar, punctuation)
Consider teaming up…why not form a forum page on Facebook to share learning / work / ideas / ask questions?
