SATs

Teacher assessments Teachers will make their own judgement about your child’s attainment for reading, writing, maths and science. These are also reported to the Government. Writing is only assessed by teachers, there is no test. KS2 scores are used to inform your child’s secondary school on entry. St Johns have used SATs scores to set for English and Maths from day 1 (for the past 2 years).
16
Teacher assessment - writing
Children will be assessed by the teachers to determine whether they are: Working towards the expected standard Working at the expected standard Working at greater depth within the expected standard
17
Standardised scores – results!!

Keep Calm and Carry on!! Please remind your child that they are more than ready for these assessments, they have practised and there is NOTHING to panic about!! We will be having a special breakfast each day of the tests – croissants, fruit, juice etc.… We will encourage the children to come school a bit early on these days. Don’t panic if your child is ill – we may be able to let them sit the test at a different time (we will need to request this from the government!) We all know your children are more that ‘a score in a test’ and we tell them this every day!!!! Whilst the SATs are important and we want the children to ‘show off’ their skills, they are just a snap shot!!
