4 Location Mountain goats live in the United
States and Canada. In Idaho, most goat populations are located in the central part of the state. Mountain Goats can be found in the steep rocky areas of the White Clouds, the Sawtooths, Seven Devils, and Bitterroot Mountains. The Selkirk Range in Northern Idaho also plays host to Mountain goats.

5 Population There are an estimated 100,000 Mountain Goats in North America. Population is staying the same.

6 Terminology Males are called Billies The young is called a kid
A group is called a band

7 Relationships Don’t have lifelong partners Can join or leave groups
Females take care of the young Males are usually alone

8 Reproduction Live birth Mate in the fall Give birth in the spring

9 Lifecycle Most die from wolves/ mountain lions Some die from worms
Could live to be 10 year old

10 Habitat Most will bed down on rock ledges or in grass.
