Osteoporotic skeleton is prone to fracture with minor trauma. Femoral neck, thoracolumbar vertebrae and sacrum are the most suscepitible sites. Impacted femoral neck insufficiency fractures may be extremely difficult to detect on X-rays. Patients with hip pain and normal radiographs should undergo MRI to ensure the fastest diagnosis and treatment.
