A large supply of parking space facilitates car use. Parking policies are one of the most effective forms of influencing mobility behaviour.  National governments play only a very small role (if at all) in parking policies. Statement: the potential contribution of national parking policies for sustainable cities is severely underused.

Providing maximum in stead of minimum national parking standards Focus on urban development and mobility Parking regulation at the workplace (e.g. workplace parking levy) Facilitating innovation in parking Facilitating parking policies of municipalities
