Complex Fractions A fraction whose numerator or denominator or both contain fractions.

Methods We will learn two methods to solve the one problems.
First : multiply numerator and denominator by the LCD of ALL terms. Second : combine fractions in the numerator, combine fractions in the denominator, then change division line to division symbol.

Method 1 Steps Find the LCD of all fractions
Multiply the numerator by the LCD, simplify. Multiply the denominator by the LCD, simplify. Simplify the fraction

Method 2 Steps Combine Fractions in the numerator.
