But What Makes Me Different?
How many of these symbols did you recognize? How much do you actually know about each religion referred to?

Teaching is how I want to make the world a better place.
I want to open up my students’ eyes to cultures and worlds outside of their own. I can use literature to teach English, History, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Science, and Geography My goal is to encourage and create life-long learners. I want my students to take everything we study in class and connect it to things in the real world and in their own lives so that they see the value and relevance of education. I will work as hard as I can to get my students to care about the world of literature and the world around them.

Learning-Conducive Environment (I am…)
Very perceptive and empathetic Curious Open-minded Soft-spoken (don’t yell) Flexible (to a reasonable degree) Eclectic and multi-faceted I see connections between things that usually go unnoticed I get along with almost everyone

Growing as a Class I fully intend for my students to learn from me, and I from them. My goal is for my class to be a place where strange, awkward, and difficult questions can be asked without fear of judgment. Whatever issues my students have, they can bring to me – I have experience in many types of difficulties and dramas.

Outside Observers’ Thoughts
Mom – “You have a passion for knowledge and for as long as I can remember you have been a very patient teacher. ..You also have a calming and steady energy which I feel is very conducive to learning. You have an understanding of different learning styles… I think different learning styles peak your interest.” Gabby – “Well you’re smart, have an incredible vocab, you’re loving and caring but also critical. You are thorough and thoughtful. You are very likable and well-read. You know how to inspire people and push them to their best and basically you have the answer to any question.” Jared – “You would be a good teacher because you derive personal satisfaction from helping other people grow, and because you see potential in people even when they cannot see it in themselves.”

So Why Me? I am intelligent, responsible, efficient, well-organized, and kind. I want to teach literature, not because I am obsessed with books (but of course I am anyway), but because I want to make my students more mindful and aware of the world they live in and how it got to be that way.
