1 In-Text Citations Cite a source using the author’s last name in parentheses at the end of a quotation: In an article written for Animal Planet in 2014, it reported, “Bronx Zoo has channeled more than $3 million towards conservation projects in central Africa” (Horton). Note: The period does not go inside the quotation; it goes after the citation. If there is not an author, cite the source by the title of the article which is also the first item in the bibliography: Scientific American explained that “AZA now administers some 113 different SSPs covering 181 individual species” (“How Do Zoos Help Endangered Animals?”).

2 Works Cited Page The Works Cited page should be on its own separate page. It should be apart of your essay document, so that it also has a page number in the top, right-hand corner. Only include bibliographies of sources you used in your paper. In other words, only cite sources that have an in-text citation in your paper. Works Cited Formatting: Title page Works Cited Title should be centered, and the same size and font as the rest of your paper. Double-space page. But do not add any additional spaces between sources or the title as sources.

Sources must be in alphabetical order by the first word in the bibliography Sources should be outdented. This means that the first line of every bibliography runs the entire length of the page, and every line after that for that particular source will be indented in a ½ inch. (See example on next page)

Heading is on left side: Your Name Teacher Class Date (written out) Title is Centered and same size and font as the rest of the paper. No underlining. 1” margins Double-space. Don’t add any additional spaces between paragraphs, title, or heading. Include your last name at the page number in the upper, right-hand corner of each page.
