Most important person in his/her political party (Democrat/Republican) Chief Diplomat President is able to make decisive decisions Commander-in-Chief Power to send troops Dictates military strategies and operations

5 Presidential Term George Washington originally only served 2 terms
This set the precedent 22nd Amendment (1951) – After FDR served 4 terms, put the 2 term limit / 10 years as law.

A natural born citizen 35 years old Resident of the US for at least 14 years

Political Experience Money Moderate Political Beliefs Left Wing Republican Right Wing Democrat

9 Presidential Succession (25th Amendment)
In case of death or disability* VP Speaker of the House President pro tempore of the Senate Secretary of State Secretary of the Treasury Secretary of Defense Attorney General *must meet the requirements to be President in order to take the office.

10 Role of Vice President 2 Jobs
Presides over the Senate – votes if there is a tie Decides if President is disabled and succeeds him The only authority or knowledge VP has is what President gives him Adviser Council Sub
