Week 6 Day 1 Make a box in your vocab journal like the one below. Title it day 1. Separate it into 4 sections. Write the root word at the top of each box. Write it’s definition, origin, and examples in each box. 4 credible Definition: believable
Sentence: I believed her because she is a credible source.

5 incredible Definition: not believable
Sentence: The view of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado is incredible!

6 credit Definition: to believe someone will do something; or a charge like with a credit card; or to give someone points Sentence: I gave him partial credit for getting half of the answer correct.

7 credentials Definition: documents providing someone is believable
Sentence: The credentials I will need to fly out of the country are my passport and driver’s license.

Sentence: I do not know how to drive a manual (stick-shift) car.

Sentence: The author had to have her manuscript to the editor by 12 pm.

11 manager Definition: someone who has the upper hand; in charge
Sentence: My mom asked to speak to the manager about my undercooked meat.

Sentence: Many toys are manufactured in China.

13 ped(Latin)=foot

14 peddler Definition: a person who sells goods on foot
Sentence: The coffee peddler comes by every morning to sell me a cup of coffee.

15 biped Definition: a two-footed animal Sentence: An ostrich is a biped.

16 pedometer Definition: a device that measures footsteps
Sentence: My goal is to get 10,000 steps on my pedometer each day.

17 pedestrian Definition: a person walking on their feet
Sentence: The car had to stop for pedestrians crossing the street.

18 anthro(Greek)=human

19 anthropology Definition: the study of human social behavior
Sentence: The anthropologist was studying different cultures.

20 misanthrope Definition: someone who does not like humans
Sentence: The old man was a misanthrope who surrounded his entire yard with barbed wire to keep his neighbors away.

21 anthropoid Definition: in the shape of a human
Sentence: While visiting the zoo, we watched a monkey peal a banana in such an anthropoid way.
