Principle of Design Scavenger Hunt
2
What to do…… Now that you have learned the general idea for the Principles of Design, can you find examples of it around you? Use you iPad to take photos of the following: (You can either find it in your environment OR set up the photo yourself!) -Proportion - Scale -Balance (which type of Balance will you choose?) -Contrast -Unity -Variety -Emphasis -Rhythm (which type of Rhythm will you show?) Then…. -in Notability or a Word doc. (Whichever you take notes in!) -attach the photos -label which they are -give a short reason why. (examples to follow) 3. Finally, UPLOAD the document file to GOOGLE CLASSROOM BEFORE our next class. Please DO NOT leave this to the last minute otherwise it will be LATE!
3
For EXAMPLE: VARIETY: Each doughnut is a decorated with different colors, patterns and designs. Some are also different sizes and one is even bitten out of.
4
Here is another EXAMPLE:
BALANCE (RADIAL): The colored pencils are arranged in a circle, where are their points face one another, to create a spiral-like feeling leaving from the center.
5
How about one more EXAMPLE:
SCALE: The coke cans are actually the same size, but because of the distance, one appears smaller than the other. In this photograph, they are to scale to one another.
6
And…… one last EXAMPLE:
EMPHASIS: In this chain of blue M&Ms’, one is orange. Not only is orange a complementary color to blue, but it is the only one of its kind and grabs the viewers attention.
7
Got it?! You have the rest of class to start this HW.
Look around the room….. Maybe you can use items from your bag to set up a photo….. Be creative with your photos! Please me with any questions!
