Many A.A.’s moved to escape from the racial discrimination and mistreatment they received in the South.

GREAT MIGRATION AS A RESULT OF THE HIGH POPULATION OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF BLACKS, A NEW CULTURE WAS DEVELOPED. IN A SENSE, A “NEW NEGRO” WAS FORMED.

A time period in America (1919 to 1929) when African Americans popularized their culture and uplifted the race.

HARLEM, NEW YORK CITY HARLEM IS A SECTION IN THE BOROUGH OF MANHATTAN IN NEW YORK CITY. SO MANY BLACKS LIVED THERE DURING THE TIME OF THE GREAT MIGRATION THAT IT WAS NICKNAMED THE “THE BLACK MECCA”
