4. In your groups you are going to try and define what life is.

5. First, it might help to make a list of things you know are alive
First, it might help to make a list of things you know are alive. Try and include as many different things as you can. Feel free to look around the room for inspiration.

6. Now come up with characteristics ALL of these living things on your list have in common or share. Try to narrow it down to 10 or less. Raise your hand when you think you got it.

7. Your poster will be graded on the following:
-Names of all group members present.
-Neatness
-Use of space
-A visual for each characteristic
-A descriptor or definition or explanation for each characteristic

8. As a group you will get 8 sticky notes
As a group you will get 8 sticky notes. Place them near the characteristics you think are required for something to be alive. You can’t place them on your poster!
