3 What do teachers do? A: What do shop assistants do? B: They serve customers in a store or shop. A: What ELSE do they do? B: They do all kinds of things I guess. They open the shop in the morning, and close it at night. They also clean the store and stack the shelves. Uhm, let me see, they uhm… they urghh… perhaps they have to order new stock depending on how much responsibility they have. A: Anything else? B: I don’t know. Anyway, it’s your turn.

9 Study tip - collocation
Try not to just memorize lists of vocabulary. Learn words that go together Memorize the whole phrase (verb phrase, noun phrase etc.) e.g. “Customers often make complaints about their deliveries.” When you read a book or magazine, or analyze a listening script, for example write the whole phrase down and remember the words together Some words go together often, while others do not The best way to learn is to read
