Guaranteed the rights of Englishmen to the colonists Basically amounts to being treated the same way as if you were still in London All privileges and laws still apply

Served as the model for the Bill of Rights for the U.S. Constitution Specifically listed the rights of men Included the right to rebel against “inadequate” government. What does inadequate mean to you?

Declaration of Independence
Stated grievances against the King of England Declared that the states were independent or separate from GB Affirmed inalienable rights LIFE, LIBERTY, and the PURSUIT of HAPPINESS Established that all people were equal under the law

Articles of Confederation
Established the first form of government in the states Most of the power remained with the states and not the federal government Very WEAK federal government No power to tax or enforce laws

Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom
Allowed for freedom of religion and opinion Basis for the establishment clause and free exercise clause Government cannot establish a national religion and it must allow citizens to freely practice any religion
