1 Writing Linear Equations
Objective: Students will learn a variety of ways to find the slope and y-intercept. They will use those to construct an equation.

2 Write equation given slope/intercept
Use slope intercept form y = mx + b Slope: 1, y-int: 3 Slope: 2/3, y-int: -8 Slope: -8, y-int: 5

3 Write equation given slope/intercept
Slope: -3, y-int: 12 Slope: 3/2, y-int: 3 Slope: 5/6, y-int: -6 Slope: -1, y-int: -20

4 Equation from ordered pairs-t,st.
(-2, 13) (0, 1) (0, -5) (3, -3) (0, 9) (3, 15) (0, -3) (2, -2)

5 Write equation from graph
Find slope Find y-int Write equation

6 Write equation from graph-st
Blue: Red: Green:

7 Equations for parallel/perpendicular lines-st
Write equation of a line parallel to y = 2x + 1 and passes through (0,4) Write equation of a line perpendicular to y = -x – 4 and passes through (0,7)

8 Equations for parallel/perpendicular lines
y = 4x – 8 and passes through (0,2) Y = 1/2x + 2 passes through (0, -3) perpendicular y = -5x + 1 passes through (0, -9) Y = 2/3x + 2 passes through (0, 2)
