3 HLISD - Description UK Directory of Health Libraries with entries from NHS, Higher Education and the Republic of Ireland 666 library entries 1,221 contacts listed (since launch this has increased by over 200!) 461 editors Worldwide usage including United States, India, Canada, Australia

4 HLISD: The Origin Story
1957 – 1st edition published 2002 – 11th edition (and last printed edition) published. 2006 – Online directory launched Editions 1 to 4 were called “Directory of Medical Libraries in the British Isles” Editions 5 to 10 called “Directory of Medical and Health Care Libraries in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland”

5 The Origin Story (2) 11th edition was called “Directory of Health Library and Information Services in the UK and the Republic of Ireland” Julie Ryder edited the 11th edition and has been national editor since the online directory was introduced in 2006

6 The Need for Redevelopment
Existing software architecture was 10 years old with many limitations Survey indicated need for additional functionality and active links Website design was dated and not always intuitive

7 The Redevelopment Journey
Discussions with existing hosts to cost upgrade Specification outlined Following Board Level discussions with partners; HEE and HLG, a short tender was undertaken Award of new contract to Artefacto – December 2017 New HLISD website went live 1st April 2018

Promote health library and information services and all that they do to the widest possible audience. Help library and information services connect with each other and with users. User-driven development

Linkage from existing LMS/Document Delivery systems to remove widespread duplication. Greater social media integration to link to blogs, wikis etc Library images – compliant with GDPR!

14 Julie Ryder Editor of 11th print version in 2002
Editor of online version since its launch in 2006 Diligence and commitment has ensured directory remains the core health libraries directory in the UK. Happy Retirement
