Glaciers & erosion Glaciers can leave behind large boulders known as erratic. Glaciers can move lots of sediments that can carve striations or grooves into rocks.

Glaciers & Erosion Drift or till is all sediment that is deposited by glacial activity Moraine: ridge or pile of boulders, gravel, sand left at the end of a glacier Esker: sediment carried by water in channels of a glacier (outwash)

Rivers with lots of energy can move lots of sediment and even large boulders. Fast water, large discharge, & a steep slope = high erosion Slow water, low discharge, & gentle slope = low erosion

Mass movement is the downward transportation of weathered materials by gravity.
