Li Po While most people who had a knack for reading writing went into government service, Li Po never took the imperial exam. Instead, he was traveling poet, well-known, and respected for his talent. Taoist; his poetry reflects his free-flowing meditations on nature Rebellion broke out in 755; Li Po was imprisoned and later exiled/

Li Po-etry Activity (pick 1)
“The River Merchant’s Wife” (454): draw a comic strip or a timeline for the events described in the poem (Put the poem in actual order, starting with her as a child) “Still Night Thoughts” (456): emulating Li Po’s style, write 3 of your own four-line stanzas for what you see at night. “Gazing at the Lu Mountain Waterfall” (457): Identify at least 5 examples of imagery in the poem. What effect does each have on the poem (i.e. what does it add/how does it make it better)? Use page 461 and the translation activity
