1 Register Federation Registration process

2 Register your Registry in the Federation
Metadata related to the Registry (Label, Control Body, ...) List of registers: in some cases, not all the Registers available in a Registry need to be federated Update frequency To join the federation, each Registry has to provide this information with a kind of Capabilities file (format to be agreed) containing: Label URI Registry Manager /Contact Point List of URLs pointing to the Register description files (with the agreed exchange format)

3 Possible exchange format for registries

Examples for such items include INSPIRE themes, code lists, application schemas or discovery services. Registers provide a means to assign identifiers to items and their labels, definitions and descriptions (in different languages). The INSPIRE registry provides a central access point to a number of centrally managed INSPIRE registers. The content of these registers are based on the INSPIRE Directive, Implementing Rules and Technical Guidelines.</dct:description> <dct:publisher> <foaf:Agent> <foaf:name xml:lang="en">European Commission, Joint Research Centre</foaf:name> [add …] </foaf:Agent> </dct:publisher> <dcat:dataset rdf:resource=" <dcat:dataset rdf:resource=" <dcat:dataset rdf:resource=" <dcat:dataset rdf:resource=" <dcat:dataset rdf:resource=" <dcat:dataset rdf:resource=" <dcat:dataset rdf:resource=" <dcat:dataset rdf:resource=" <dcat:dataset rdf:resource=" [add update frequency & date of last update …] </rdf:Description>

4 Register your Registry in the Federation
The RoR will harvest the information based on the update frequency specified by requesting the RDF exchange format from the URI specified for each register in the registry metadata file. It will import and update the information related to the Registry, Registers and Relations. If the modification date is available, the RoR will compare the last harvesting date with the Register modification date to check the need of update. Otherwise, there will be a complete harvest of the content specified in the registry file.

5 Register your Registry in the Federation
RoR Local Registry Get Registry Metadata URI Registry exchange file (RDF) [if local registry has been updated since last harvest] Update Registry Metadata For each register: http GET Register URI (http Accept header: RDF) Register exchange file (RDF) [if local register has been updated since last harvest] Update Register Metadata [if local register has been updated since last harvest] Update RoR search index
