2. TAKE ONE BOOK MARK Book Mark Activity
One Side must include: Title of your chosen book, the author, how many pages the book has, and 2-3 sentences telling me WHY you chose this book
Back side: Every time you read write the date and how many pages you read. Be honest.

3. Root Words, Suffixes, Prefixes
Words can be broken into smaller parts.
These parts include:
roots, prefixes, and suffixes.

Root Word

4. Root Words
Example: Hydr- is a Greek root meaning water. An example of a word with this root is hydrant.
A root is a word part that contains the core meaning of the word.
A multitude of English words contain roots that come from older languages (i.e. Greek and Latin).
Understanding the meanings of a word’s root can help you determine the word’s meaning.

5. Prefix
A prefix is a word part attached to the beginning of a word to modify its meaning.
Example: un- is a prefix meaning the opposite of, not. An example of a word with this prefix is unhappy.

6. Suffix
A suffix is a word part that appears at the end of a root or base word to form a new word although some suffixes may not change word meaning.
Example: -less is a suffix meaning without. An example of a word with this suffix is motionless.

Every week you will get a new worksheet with new roots, prefixes and suffixes.
Must find definitions of all and study for a quiz.
Ideally you will get new words on Mondays and be quizzes on Fridays.
